Google Drive Integration

MigrateClouds provides seamless integration with Google Drive, allowing you to easily transfer files between Google Drive and other cloud storage providers.

Prerequisites

Before connecting your Google Drive account, ensure you have:

  • A Google account with access to Google Drive
  • Sufficient permissions to access the files you want to transfer
  • A MigrateClouds account (sign up at migrateclouds.com if you don't have one)

Connecting Your Google Drive Account

Follow these steps to connect your Google Drive account:

  1. Log in to your MigrateClouds dashboard

Navigate to https://migrateclouds.com/dashboard and sign in with your credentials.

  2. Click on "Connect a Cloud Service"

This button is located in the dashboard sidebar or on the main dashboard area if you haven't connected any services yet.

  3. Select Google Drive from the list of available services

You'll see various cloud storage providers. Click on the Google Drive icon.

  4. Authorize MigrateClouds

A Google authorization window will appear. Click "Allow" to grant MigrateClouds permission to access your Google Drive files.

  5. Verify the connection

After authorization, you'll be redirected back to MigrateClouds. Your Google Drive account should now appear in the "Connected Services" section.

Permissions Explained

When connecting Google Drive, MigrateClouds requests the following permissions:

View and manage files in your Google Drive

This permission allows MigrateClouds to list, download, upload, and manage files in your Google Drive. This is essential for performing file transfers.

View your basic profile info

This allows us to identify your Google account and display your name and profile picture in the dashboard.

You can revoke these permissions at any time by:

  1. Going to Google Account Permissions
  2. Finding MigrateClouds in the list of connected apps
  3. Clicking "Remove Access"

Using Google Drive with MigrateClouds

File Management

MigrateClouds allows you to perform basic file management operations on your Google Drive files:

  • Create new folders
  • Rename files and folders
  • Delete files and folders
  • Move files between folders

These operations can be performed using the context menu (right-click) or the toolbar buttons.

Troubleshooting

Connection Issues

If you're having trouble connecting your Google Drive account:

  • Ensure you're using a Google account with access to Google Drive
  • Clear your browser cookies and try again
  • Disable any browser extensions that might be blocking the OAuth popup
  • Try using a different browser

Transfer Failures

If your transfers are failing:

  • Check if you have sufficient quota in both source and destination services
  • Verify that the files aren't locked or in use by another application
  • For large files, ensure your internet connection is stable
  • Check if any files have special characters in their names that might cause issues

Permission Errors

If you're seeing permission errors:

  • Verify that you have the necessary permissions for the files you're trying to access
  • For shared files, ensure you have at least "Viewer" access
  • Try reconnecting your Google Drive account to refresh permissions

Limitations

While MigrateClouds provides comprehensive support for Google Drive, there are some limitations to be aware of:

  • Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides files can only be transferred in their exported formats (e.g., DOCX, XLSX, PPTX)
  • Files larger than 5TB cannot be transferred (Google Drive's maximum file size)
  • Shared drive permissions and sharing settings are not transferred to the destination service
  • File comments and version history are not preserved during transfers
  • Transfer speeds may be limited by Google Drive's API rate limits
