Dropbox Integration
Connect your Dropbox account to MigrateClouds and transfer files seamlessly.
Prerequisites
Before connecting Dropbox to MigrateClouds, ensure you have:
- A Dropbox account (either Personal or Business)
- Sufficient permissions to access and modify files in your Dropbox
- A MigrateClouds account (sign up at migrateclouds.com if you don't have one)
Dropbox Business vs. Personal
Connecting Dropbox
Follow these steps to connect your Dropbox account to MigrateClouds:
1. Navigate to Connected Services
Log in to your MigrateClouds account and go to the Dashboard. Click on "Connected Services" in the sidebar.
2. Add Dropbox
Click on the "Connect a Cloud Service" button and select "Dropbox" from the list of available services.
3. Dropbox Authentication
You'll be redirected to Dropbox's authentication page. Sign in with your Dropbox account credentials if you're not already logged in.
4. Grant Permissions
Review the permissions requested by MigrateClouds and click "Allow" to grant access to your Dropbox files.

5. Verification
After granting permissions, you'll be redirected back to MigrateClouds. The system will verify the connection and display your Dropbox in the list of connected services.
Pro Tip
If you're using Dropbox Business, you can connect to team folders and shared folders that you have access to.
Using Dropbox with MigrateClouds
Once connected, you can use Dropbox as either a source or destination for your file transfers:
Browsing Dropbox Files
In the File Explorer, select Dropbox from the dropdown menu to browse your files and folders. You can:
- Navigate through folders
- Preview files (for supported file types)
- Select multiple files for transfer
- Create new folders
Transferring Files to Dropbox
To transfer files to Dropbox from another cloud service:
- Select your source cloud service and navigate to the files you want to transfer
- Select the files or folders
- Choose Dropbox as the destination
- Select the destination folder in Dropbox
- Click "Start Transfer"
Transferring Files from Dropbox
To transfer files from Dropbox to another cloud service:
- Select Dropbox as your source
- Navigate to and select the files you want to transfer
- Choose your destination cloud service
- Select the destination folder
- Click "Start Transfer"
Dropbox-Specific Features
MigrateClouds supports several Dropbox-specific features:
Shared Folders
MigrateClouds can access and transfer files from shared folders that you have access to in Dropbox.
Paper Documents
Dropbox Paper documents can be transferred to compatible formats in other cloud services.
File Requests
Files received through Dropbox File Requests can be accessed and managed through MigrateClouds.
Limitations
- Files larger than 350GB cannot be transferred (Dropbox limitation)
- Some special characters in filenames may be replaced during transfer
- Dropbox-specific features like Smart Sync settings are not preserved when transferring to other cloud services
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Dropbox connection:
Connection Issues
If MigrateClouds can't connect to your Dropbox:
- Verify your Dropbox account credentials
- Check your internet connection
- Try disconnecting and reconnecting the service
- Ensure you haven't revoked MigrateClouds' access in your Dropbox account settings
Transfer Errors
If you experience errors during file transfers:
- Check if you have sufficient storage space in the destination
- Verify that you have the necessary permissions for the files
- Check for filename conflicts or unsupported characters
- For large transfers, try breaking them into smaller batches
